Helping salon owners convert their culture story into a recruiting magnet ✨

Sharing the story behind a salon leader can be a compelling way to connect with your employees and potential talent. As leaders it’s easy to convince ourselves that our story isn’t interesting, or compelling, or maybe even worthy of telling.

But i’m here to tell you that todays salon talent cares a lot about you- their leader- and you have a responsibility to help them know who you are.

When you take this seriously you will see some amazing results in you business, including attracting more talent, increasing the level of engagement with your current team, and you may even attract a new client or two who feels inspired by your share.

It can be overwhelming to consider how to talk about yourself so i’ve listed a few ideas for you below that can help you excel at telling your leadership story.

  • Video Interview: Create a video interview with the salon leader, allowing them to share their background, inspirations, and leadership philosophy. Include snippets of their work in the salon and their interactions with the team.

  • “Meet the Leader” Blog Series: Write a blog series dedicated to introducing the salon leader. Each post can focus on a different aspect of their life and career, from their early years in the industry to their present leadership role.

  • Social Media Takeover: Allow the salon leader to take over the salon’s social media accounts for a day. They can share their daily routines, favorite products, and interact with followers, giving a personal touch to the salon’s online presence.

  • Staff Testimonials: Collect testimonials from long-time clients who have experienced the leader’s expertise and guidance. Share these testimonials alongside the leader’s own reflections on their relationships with clients.

  • Leadership in Action Video Series: Create short video clips that capture moments of the leader showcasing their leadership skills, such as training staff, managing a busy day, or handling difficult situations with grace.

  • Behind-the-Scenes Photo Essay: Share a photo essay that takes viewers behind the scenes of the salon leader’s daily life. Include photos of them interacting with staff, preparing for the day, and making important decisions.

  • Personal Vision Statement: Have the salon leader write and share their personal vision statement for the salon. Discuss how their leadership style aligns with this vision and benefits both clients and staff.

  • Guest Blog Posts from Team Members: Allow team members to write guest blog posts about their experiences working with the salon leader. This can provide different perspectives on the leader’s impact.

  • Leadership Challenges and Solutions: Share stories of specific challenges the leader has faced in their role and how they overcame them. This can inspire others and showcase the leader’s problem-solving skills.

  • Leadership Q&A Sessions: Host live or pre-recorded Q&A sessions where stylists and followers can ask the leader questions about their journey, beauty tips, and leadership insights.

  • “A Day in the Life” Video: Create a day-in-the-life video that follows the salon leader from the moment they wake up to when they close the salon. Highlight the various responsibilities they handle throughout the day.
