Send emails that drive sales without using discounts

Every salon software has a CRM, but salons are using them all wrong and it’s hurting your sales potential.

A CRM is your “Customer Relationship Management” tool. Also known as the email database inside of your booking software. Most salon leaders don’t know much about the functionality of their CRM beyond the features they use to send appointment confirmations and last-minute discounts. The data housed inside of your CRM is like rocket fuel for your business when you know how to use it. 🚀

Your email list makes targeted email marketing simple. Email marketing is an effective marketing channel with a high revenue return and virtually no cost to you. But when you only use it as a means to deploy discounts to your clients you are hurting your business potential.

You’re driving the logic that opening an email from your salon means
“I can spend less” vs “I can derive knowledge or benefit from this.”

Did you know that beauty tutorials are the 6th most popular type of content on Youtube, with YouTube being the second largest search engine platform behind Google? Why does this matter to you? It’s proof that your knowledge is knowledge that people want. So start sharing that knowledge with your existing email base and see how it can increase your sales revenue!

Email has the same kind of power for your talent acquisition strategy: aka your salon recruitment plan

Most salons spend time in cosmetology schools talking to students and collecting their information. But sadly that information usually stays in the spreadsheet you collected it in, or worse yet on the feedback forms the students hand-wrote and you can barely read. Why not add those contacts to an email CRM and stay in touch with them? Just because a student doesn’t choose you for their place of employment now doesn’t mean they wouldn’t choose you in the future.

Marketing is a game of showcasing your value. People buy at different times. Finding a job is no different. Life circumstances change, preferences and needs change. If you are the brand that is showing up with value, then you’ll be top of mind when it’s time for them to find a new role.

How to get started.
Target your messages to the person reading it. This is where you can use the filters in your CRM to share knowledge with people based on the services they have had in your salon or based on the program of study you know they went through for their license.
Create a catchy subject line for every email. This helps ensure that your email gets opened.
Ask them to do something. Don’t forget what is called a “Call to Action”. This means you invite them to buy, visit, or learn more.
